Remote work became essential during COVID-19, but the trend was already becoming increasingly popular before that. Freelancing and working from home have become a preference for many people who cannot go to, or don’t want to travel to, work and would rather build their own schedule and workspace.
However, many people have started working from bed instead, leading to short and long-term physiological and mental issues. Here are some spaces apart from your bed that can be productive working environments:
Set up a home office
It’s tempting to pick up your laptop right after you wake up and start working in bed, but putting in the extra effort to create a proper setup can really help you in the long run. If you have sufficient space, place a desk that matches your interior design in your room. Make sure it’s at a comfortable height for your elbows, and get a comfortable chair to match. You’ll probably be spending up to 8 hours a day in this chair, so don’t be afraid to invest for the sake of your posture. Spruce the area with a few small potted plants and decorative memos on the wall!
Co-working spaces
Not everyone has the space or privacy required to create a home office, making co-working spaces a popular option. These dedicated workspaces are fully equipped with all required office amenities along with snacks, phone booths, and more. They can be on the pricier side, but the amount of work you get done makes it absolutely worth it!
Local library
Nothing beats the library when it comes to getting things done. The place is free of distractions, seeing people working around you is motivating, and there’s free WiFi! You can also use their printer for a small fee. However, this isn’t the best option for those who need to make frequent phone calls.
Coffee shop
Coffee shops are a great go-to for remote workers. They’re available everywhere, they have WiFi, and there’s coffee and snacks. Cafes also have the perfect amount of white noise, which can help boost your productivity.
Patio office
Being in an outdoor space can work wonders for our mental health. There’s nothing like green spaces, the sounds of nature, and fresh air to boost your productivity while you’re working from home. Set up a cozy chair and lap desk to work from the comfort of your own home without being confined to the bed.
